Day 67: Imagine
Shifting from power to wealth, and subtracting the fear, shame, and zero-sum thinking that make both harder than they need to be.
This post is free for all subscribers: a threshold moment as we shift from Power to Wealth. If someone in your life is ready to subtract the fear around money and influence, this is a good one to share.
🎵 Today’s song: Imagine — John Lennon
As we shift from Power to Wealth this week, I offer this classic ballad, recognizing that this one might move you, or provoke you. Maybe both.
I chose it to highlight the subtractions that I am seeing, living, and recommending when it comes to these big weighty topics.
No, I’m not asking you to imagine no possessions. But I am asking you to imagine letting go of the fear around them, and the shame and zero-sum thinking that turns both power and wealth into tools of exclusion rather than engines of change.
But to subtract the uses, feelings, and fears around power and wealth that make them tools of exclusion, destruction, and misery.
So that we can reclaim the versions of power and wealth that are prerequisites for change of any kind — individual or societal, slow or dramatic, imperceptible or paradigm-shifting.
Today, consider, or perhaps imagine, how you might use more power with. And then start to think about this more inclusive, regenerative, life-giving approach to money, as we dive into wealth.
And maybe, listen one more time, without rolling your eyes, and recognizing that we are in a moment that could hold the seeds of a very different future.
See you tomorrow with a Subtraction Scenario on the theme of wealth.
